 The tomographic system is designed for core tomography, including a full-diameter core at reservoir conditions. A distinguishing feature of the CT is the immobility of subject of research. 

A radiator and detector can rotate the entire circle in the plane perpendicular to the central axis of a core holder, as well as they can move along it. 

The tomographic system uses a solid-state X-ray detector of a high resolution and an X-ray tube with a small focal spot. The use of these components ensures high-resolution tomography while scanning a full-diameter core.

 

Core holder 

 

The radio-transparent core holder of composite material secures reservoir pressure and temperature. A core holder cup is equipped with ports for measuring pressure drop in the middle part of a sample. Together with a pumping system, the tomographic system is used for in-depth study of core saturation with fluids at reservoir conditions.

Without a core holder, the tomographic system can be used for stream-oriented recording (radiography and/or X-ray tomography) of a core in atmospheric conditions.

Together with a pumping system, tomographic system can be used for in-depth study of core saturation with fluids at reservoir conditions.  The outcome of the complex operation is a three-dimensional distribution of core saturation with fluids.
